BX24 50-hour maintenance

I just did my 50 hour maintenance on my BX24. Has anyone else had issue with the published capacity of the transmission? I spilled a bit of UDT trying to fill the puppy.

I have skid plates on (LOVE them), and was able to remove/replace the oil and transmission filters without removing them. I used a wrench to loosen them. You need to take off the right-rear wheel to get to the transmission filter.

I also have a BX 24. I didn't have a problem with the stated capacity . Did you have your bucket and backhoe in a postion where all the cylinders were closed that could be? Do you find this valuable?

The bucket was down and the backhoe removed... I'm thinking that I'm just a lucky guy... Do you find this valuable?

I'm in the process of drain mine tonight. So far I drained 3.5 gals. I had all the cylinders extended, e.g FEL up, BH up. I jacked the backend up dropped both buckets and out riggers, removed the hyd. filter and screen, so far oil is still draining I'll measure this amount in the morning. I have a pail of Amsoil to replace the old hydraulic oil. The screen was 1/2 plugged off. after all of tihs I am interested what could be in the filter so I will be cutting it apart later on.. I posted 2 pictures of it .

After refilling my hydraulics and priming the cylinders I now have 2.4" of fluid left in Amsoil pail . Without a clean jug to empty it in I suspect that it is approx. 3/4 of a gallon left..
The pictures of the strainer are in the photo gallor was after I dropped it, looks cleaner but was partly pluged.
The Amsoil fuid does make the tractor a little more interesting to drive as it doesn't not come to a complete stop as quickly as before when removing your foot off the shuttle clutch. I went over one 4 ft bank already because I wasn't used to the slower reaction stop distance, backing up is the same, but going slow it will still stop on a dime, just not going fast....

My kubota dealer said to be carefull when using other hydraulic fluids when servicing the bx line they call for a full synthetic oil due to the high rpms and heat it will endure. using the regular hydraulic fluid will cause an overheating problem in the tranny. The kubota synthetic fluid was not cheap but you allready spent $16000 on the machine so I figure whats another $100. And they said to check the fluids in the ground level posistion on the loader and with the boom pinned on the rear. I hope this can help. Do you find this valuable?
