Box and rake
Sep 20 2008, 7:12 AM EDT
I added a box grader and rake to y BX24 and have not looked back. I have a 1/4 mile long gravel driveway that was in terrible condition. Grading and raking the drive once a month has eliminated the pot holes and fears of messing up my car. I might use the rake for cleaning up a field after I use the brush hog, but it does a very nice job of dressing up the driveway.

I am interested in building one as I have plans for a 4 ft box rake. I am wondering how it would work in a field?

"I am interested in building one as I have plans for a 4 ft box rake. I am wondering how it would work in a field?"No clue. I'll try it this weekend if I have time. I'm thinking it would be kind of messy with the tangle of roots and the like. On the other hand, you never know.... Al Do you find this valuable? |

I have seen some box rakes with narrow rppers that might break small roots.

Effective box blades have two hardened blades - one facing forward for aggressive cutting, and one facing backward for finish grading. I recommend the Woods line of boxblades. As far as landscape rakes - they will not work on grass fields. It would need to be rolotilled several times first. A power dethatcher may be used on grass surfaces once it is cut short.-Good luck Do you find this valuable? |

I took a look at the reality of the field and didn't even try. I would not recommend trying a box grader on a field. I did grade and rake my driveway though. Smooooooth!
