Description by pintodeluxe.

I discovered that on my Bx2230 with a 54" MMM, if you remove the rear gauge wheels, and turn the 5/8" axle-bolts to face inward you can mount a striper with very minimal effort. Use sealed ball bearings with 5/8" bore and 1 3/4" o.d.(EBAY). Tap the bearings into a 47" length of 2" o.d. tube (1/8" thick walls so the tube i.d. is 1 3/4"), and mount to the stock gauge wheel supports.

Otherwise, try my modified rear frame mount striper for use with a Kubota baggerI built one as a rear frame mount for my Bx2230. It raises and lowers with the deck, and produces uniform striping.

I needed a lawn striper that was compatable with the bagger on my Kubota Bx 2230. I started with an Arnold universal striper (Craigslist or Ebay), and welded an angle iron to it. From there I used "L" brackets to attach the striper frame to 3/16" x 1.25" flat stock. Rectangular 1" x 2" stock was used to brace and stiffen the flat stock. I then mounted straight brackets to the tractor frame to accept the striper. Straight and "L" brackets are from Home Depot electrical department (by the superstrut stock). They come pre-drilled with 1/2" holes. I made some custom lift arms from 3/4" cold rolled steel and flat stock. These mimick the factory lift arms, however need to be longer than stock to raise and lower the striper.
FAQ's

  1. Does the striper increase the overall length of the tractor?
No. The striper tucks neatly under the bagger.
  2. Are the rollers separated so the outer roller can spin faster to avoid turf damage while turning?
    Yes.
  3. What gives the striper its weight?
    The rollers are sand-filled.
  4. Does the striper interfere with the bagger or interfere with the bagger stands?
No. The striper is designed to work with the bagger.
  5. How does the striper mount to the tractor?
With four clevis pins. Two to the frame brackets, and two to the TPH lifts.
  6. How much did it cost to build?
Around $100 including $25 for the Arnold universal striping kit (Craigslist or Ebay), angle iron, flat stock, cold rolled steel, brackets, bolts, clevis pins, and sand. I already had the 1" x 2" rectangular stock.
