The hydraulics on a BX will power a log splitter, but will do so slowly (slow cycle period) because of the low hydraulic flow rate. To counter this you might find that a bi-directional splitter helps. This eliminates the wait for the ram to reset itself to the start of the splitting stroke, because it has a double-ended wedge and can split no matter which in direction to ram is moving.
